The site is internationally visible, with a focus on neighboring countries such as Germany and Luxembourg...
The functional mix of housing, shops and offices on the same site guarantees the attractiveness and conviviality of the district.
Internationally renowned architects and designers are involved in the development of this innovative district: Jean-Michel WILMOTTE (Metz Congrès Robert Schuman), Shigeru BAN and Jean de GASTINES (Centre Pompidou-Metz), Jean-Paul VIGUIER (Muse), Christian De PORTZAMPARC, Nicolas MICHELIN, and designer Philippe STARCK, who is proposing his first hotel, the Maison Heler hotel.
The zone
The Quartier de l'Amphithéâtre is directly connected to Metz TGV station (82 minutes from Paris) and close to Metz city center.
The Parc de la Seille, the Palais omnisport des Arènes, the Centre Pompidou-Metz and the Centre Metz-Congrès Robert Schuman all contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by residents, workers, tourists and conference-goers in this new district.
The urban project involves the construction of 306,000 m² of floor space on a 38 ha site, divided into :
- Public facilities: 32,000 sq.m
- Office/retail: 137,000 m² (137,000 sq.m.)
- Housing: 137,000 sq.m
At the heart of the district, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, inaugurated in 2010, has welcomed over 5 million visitors since its opening, giving the site an international reputation.
Muse, a 37,000 sq. m. shopping center supported by developer Apsys, opened its doors on November 21, 2017. The shopping complex, comprising 110 retailers and restaurants, is complemented by office buildings, residential units and a senior residence, which will be delivered in 2018.
The 1,200-seat Robert Schuman Convention Center completes the agglomeration's range of services, while at the same time acting as a vector for economic development in the context of international business tourism.
Finally, the Maison Heler hotel, imagined by designer Philippe Starck, has been offering a new range of accommodation over 9 floors since March 2025. The building is a landmark in the district, with its bold architecture respectful of the city's history. The Quartier de l'Amphithéâtre is also linked to the rest of the urban area by the Mettis public transport system.
