The 2025 Manpower Needs survey, carried out for France Travail, reveals a rather ambitious Moselle, with 25,631 recruitment projects announced this year (80.1% of which are non-seasonal). The companies concerned are mainly local VSEs and SMEs, often faced with high staff turnover and recurring recruitment difficulties. But behind this promising figure, employers are coming up against a well-known reality: more than one project in two (57.3%) is deemed difficult to implement.
The Metz basin is particularly active, with almost 13,166 hiring intentions alone, representing over 51.4% of the department's total. Among the most sought-after occupations are home helps, maintenance workers, care assistants, waiters, cooks, lorry drivers, bricklayers and unskilled construction workers. The main reason these positions are hard to fill is a mismatch between the needs expressed by employers and the profiles available on the market. Lack of qualifications, lack of experience, but also a mismatch with the requirements of the job (mobility, working hours, pace) largely explain the 58.2% of projects deemed difficult.
